Natural Gas Distributors and Suppliers
Most residents of Pennsylvania have the power to choose their natural gas supplier. Natural gas suppliers are different from gas distributors. Learn the differences between the two, and see lists of the current distributors and suppliers in Pennsylvania.
What You are Actually Switching
When you switch natural gas suppliers, you are changing the company that supplies the actual gas to your local gas lines; you are not switching to different physical gas lines.
The gas lines that run down your street and into your home are still owned and operated by your local natural gas distribution company (NGDC). The rates for that distribution service are regulated by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PAPUC), but many PA consumers can choose the company that provides the gas supply to their local NGDC’s lines.
Your choice can be based on the lowest price, services and/or incentives. Competitive offers from natural gas suppliers do not exist in all areas of Pennsylvania.
Regardless of whether you choose a new natural gas supplier, your NGDC will continue to provide your distribution service, make repairs to its delivery system and respond to emergencies.
